Privacy, cookies and data protection
Privacy Policy
Effective 26 October 2026
The exhibit has no accounts, forms, comments, advertising, analytics, behavioural profiling or embedded third-party widgets. Its frontend does not send visitor data to kooheji.dev.
1. Who operates this site
kooheji.dev operates IF EARTH WERE 100 PIXELS and acts as the controller for any personal data it decides to process. Privacy questions or rights requests can be submitted through the contact details published at kooheji.dev.
2. Information processed
On the website frontend
No name, email address, payment information, account identifier or uploaded content is requested. The exhibit runs from static files in the browser.
Hosting and security logs
The hosting provider may automatically process limited technical information needed to deliver and protect the site, such as an IP address, request time, requested path, browser user-agent, referrer and security events. The exact fields and retention period depend on the production host’s configuration. They should be limited to operational security, abuse prevention, troubleshooting and reliable delivery.
3. Cookies and local storage
No cookies are set by this website. No analytics, advertising or cross-site tracking technology is loaded.
| Browser storage | Purpose | When written | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
100px-motion | Remembers whether the visitor asked to pause or enable animation. | Only after the visitor uses the motion control. | Until the visitor changes it or clears site data. |
This preference remains on the visitor’s device and is not transmitted by the frontend. Because no optional storage is placed before a visitor requests this appearance setting, the site does not display a consent banner. This approach follows the distinction between requested appearance settings and non-essential tracking described in the ICO’s storage and access guidance. If analytics, advertising, embedded media or other optional storage is added later, it must remain disabled until any legally required consent has been obtained.
4. Purposes and legal basis
Where production hosting logs contain personal data, processing is limited to the legitimate interests of securely delivering the requested website, detecting abuse, diagnosing faults and maintaining service integrity. This relies on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR where the GDPR applies, subject to a balancing assessment and applicable local law. A different legal basis will be documented before any materially different processing begins.
5. Third parties and external links
Local fonts, images, scripts and styles are served from this website. No visitor data is sent to research sources or Ko-fi merely by loading the exhibit. If a visitor follows an external link, that destination receives the request and applies its own privacy terms.
- Hosting provider: processes network requests as necessary to deliver and secure the site under the operator’s hosting arrangement.
- Research publishers: NASA, USGS, UN agencies, World Bank and other cited publishers are independent destinations when their links are opened.
- Ko-fi: the support button is a normal external link, not an embedded widget. Ko-fi and its payment providers process any visit or transaction independently under Ko-fi’s Privacy Policy.
The site does not sell personal data and does not disclose personal data for targeted advertising.
6. International transfers and retention
The static frontend stores no visitor profile on kooheji.dev servers. Hosting traffic may cross borders depending on the selected host and network routing; the operator should maintain appropriate contractual or legal safeguards where required. Hosting-log retention should be kept to the shortest period reasonably needed for security and troubleshooting. The local motion preference remains until the visitor clears or changes it.
7. Data security
The production package enforces HTTPS on compatible Apache hosting, requests HSTS, blocks framing, restricts content sources, disables directory listing, and loads no third-party runtime code. No secret, credential or API key is required in the frontend. These measures reduce risk but cannot guarantee absolute security; the host and domain account must also use current software, strong unique credentials and multi-factor authentication where available.
8. Your rights
Where applicable, data-protection law may provide rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing, receive portable data, and complain to a competent supervisory authority. Because the frontend does not create accounts or visitor profiles, kooheji.dev may hold no data that can be linked back to a requester. Requests can be made through kooheji.dev.
9. Children and sensitive information
The exhibit is general educational content and does not knowingly collect information from children. It displays aggregate statistical subjects, including religion and demographic categories, but does not collect any visitor’s beliefs, identity or other sensitive information.
10. Changes
This notice will be updated before the site introduces forms, analytics, embedded third-party content, advertising, payments or materially different data practices. The effective date above identifies the current version.
